Mr. Pande is a professional geologist and has completed his professional education from the Panjab University in India. He was awarded a gold medal by the Panjab University for his academic excellence and overall performance, at the time of his graduation. He has had a long and illustrious career, spanning over 35 years, in the oil & gas industry in India till his superannuation from the Oil & Natural Gas Commission Ltd. (ONGC) in 2011. Just before his superannuation Mr. Pande was a member of the Board of Directors of ONGC and as Director – Exploration, he was its leader and driver for all the exploration activities of the organization. During his tenure, he spear-headed the exploration efforts of ONGC, by introducing proven as well as emerging technologies like low frequency passive seismic, passive seismic tomography, seismic interferometry, 3D Basin modeling and such other exploration oriented techniques. His sustained efforts led to various exploration successes which further translated to some significant hydrocarbon discoveries, both onshore and offshore India.
Mr. Pande is one of the first few individuals who realized the importance of geologically complex unconventional resource plays and was instrumental in various R & D efforts to locate prospective geographic areas of interest and the introduction of exploration activities in the unconventional geological formations in India. The ideas instilled by him have opened up new vistas for the development of unconventional oil & gas development in India.
Mr. Pande was a member and the Deputy Leader of the Indian expedition to Antarctica and was the Vice-President of the World Petroleum Council. At present he is the Chairman of Eesh Energy Enterprises in India.
